Mission Statement

Freshman Commuter Student Success provides advocacy and education through the provision of programs and services designed to support and retain freshman commuter students.  

Freshman Commuter Student Success strives to provide a welcoming environment that fosters relationships and skill-building that empower students who commute to campus.

We offer you opportunities through programming and mentorship to make connections with your peers and the broader campus community, and to reach self-actualization through exploration during your time at the University of Arkansas and beyond graduation.

Student Questions

The Commuter Lounge on the 6th floor of the Union is a great place to study, hang out, and meet new people! Study rooms in Mullins Library and the Union are available for advance reservation. Here is a list of some popular places to study on campus:

Mullins Study Rooms 

The FAFSA is an application for federal aid and state aid like the Arkansas Academic Challenge scholarship, Pell and SEOG grants, loans, work-study programs, and aid specifically for military families. Submit an application using this link: Student Aid


If you are renewing your FAFSA or have never filed your FAFSA before, click "start here." All students will need their parents'/guardians' taxes and personal taxes from the past 2 years (e.g. 2022 FAFSA use 2020 taxes).

Students can check to see if they have a pre-existing advisor by signing into UA Connect. Once on UA Connect, students will click “Degree Audit” and then “View my Advisor” to see if there is an advisor already listed.

 

Students who do not have a pre-existing advisor and wish to schedule a new appointment will navigate to Advising. Students will then select their college and follow the instructions to schedule an academic advising appointment.

Free one-on-one and group tutoring sessions are available in the CORD for all University of Arkansas students. The CORD offers tutoring for nearly 50 subjects. Students can view a list of available tutoring offerings here: Tutoring

There are several on-campus employment opportunities available for University of Arkansas students. All job listings can be found on Campus Employment. Students who have no employment history with the University of Arkansas will select the career site link under 'External Applicant.’

Student Scholarships

Students have access to print in the Student Tech Center located on the 3rd floor of the Arkansas Union. The Student Tech Center also has free laptops available for rent and desktop computers available for use. Students may reserve equipment here: Print Labs

The Multicultural Center (MC) and Commuter Lounge both offer free scantrons for students. Scantrons are also available for purchase at any Club Red, campus bookstore, or from the scantron vending machines found around campus.
